Iloilo riders win two golds on Day 1 of PhilCycling nationals

Two young riders from Iloilo and one each from Narvacan and Pangasinan won gold medals in Day 1 of the PhilCycling National Championships for Road presented by MVP Sports Foundation and Standard Insurance on Monday, Feb. 24, in Tagaytay City.

Allaeza Mae Gulmatico and Maria Louisse Crisselle Alejado secured gold medals in Women's Youth 1 and 2 categories, giving Iloilo an early lead in the five-day championships organized by PhilCycling headed by Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham 'Bambol' Tolentino.

The riders aged 16 years old and younger raced over a 2.1-km circuit for 20 minutes with the final two laps determining the podium finishers, covering the perimeter of Tagaytay City Atrium, a popular destination made famous by the Praying Hands monument.

Maritanya Krogg won silver and Yvaine Osias took bronze in Women Youth 2; Jazmine Kaye Vinoya from Pangasinan claimed gold in Women's Junior; CJ Cabreros from Narvacan won gold in Men's Youth 1, followed by Joelian Abdul Hamid from Ilocos Sur.

Raven Vidaz, Jerick Cabael, and Silmar Khen Silao completed the podium in Men Youth 1.
