Iloilo City appeals for GCQ status starting Sept 28

Iloilo City will appeal to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) this weekend to downgrade its quarantine status from MECQ to GCQ starting Monday, Sept 28.

The city recorded a spike in COVID-19 cases recently, leading the IATF to place it under MECQ until Oct. 9.

Mayor Jerry Treñas noted no new cases in several barangays and emphasized compliance with health protocols.

Treñas will send a formal request to the IATF after discussions with task force chair Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Interior Undersecretary Epimaco Densing III.
