Metro Manila mayors favor GCQ extension

Metro Manila mayors have agreed that the region should remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) rather than shifting to modified GCQ (MGCQ).

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora stated on Tuesday that Metro Manila has seen a sharp decline in positive cases, and they want to ensure this trend continues before considering any shift.

Zamora added that the mayors are seeing positive results from current interventions and do not want to risk reversing these gains by easing restrictions prematurely.

At least four mayors, including Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco and Zamora, support extending GCQ to sustain progress against COVID-19.
