Iloilo tightens ECQ amid Delta threat

Iloilo City and province are implementing heightened measures against the Delta variant, extending their enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until August 8.

Mayor Jerry Treñas signed an executive order imposing stricter restrictions from August 3 to 8, limiting movement to essential activities such as accessing goods, services, work, and vaccinations.

Non-essential establishments will be closed, a total liquor ban is in place, and inbound travels are temporarily suspended from August 4 to 8.

The city's first Delta variant case was reported on July 29, leading to the temporary closure of the patient’s residence and workplace for contact tracing.
