Philippines reclassified as high-risk for COVID-19

The Philippines has been reclassified as a high-risk area for COVID-19 due to a significant increase in cases, with an average of over 8,000 new infections daily.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reported that the country's two-week growth rate is at 47%, and the Delta variant has been detected in 13 out of 17 regions.

The national average daily attack rate increased to 7.20 cases per 100,000 population, with healthcare utilization and ICU occupancy rates also rising.
