Galvez: Herd immunity in NCR and nearby provinces by November

Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. expects to achieve herd immunity in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces by November.

Galvez cited estimates from supply chain experts assisting the country’s mass vaccination program, stating that 180 days is needed for this target.

NTF Against Covid-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vince Dizon said on Saturday that the government aims to inoculate at least 50 percent of the adult population to achieve herd immunity.

Dizon added that once more vaccine supplies come in, the goal is achievable by year-end, including half of NCR Plus's population.
