DOLE provides PHP411M aid to 84K Bicol workers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Bicol has provided PHP411 million worth of financial assistance to around 84,400 beneficiaries under various programs aimed at cushioning the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

These programs include TUPAD #BKBK, CAMP, and DOLE-AKAP, which have helped displaced workers in the region.

Despite job layoffs affecting 612 private employees from 51 commercial establishments, this only represents .2 percent of Bicol's total labor force of 2.1 million.

DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay emphasized that various forms of assistance are available to workers who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, including separation benefits and facilitation of employment in available vacancies.
