DOLE: 6K BPO jobs may reduce unemployment amid pandemic

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said at least 6,000 jobs in the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector will help reduce unemployment caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The resurgence of the BPO industry is due to global economic downturn leading companies abroad to look for offices in Metro Manila, Clark, and Cebu.

According to a report on GMA's '24 Oras', there may be around 6,000 job openings in the BPO sector as firms expand operations in these areas.

Data from Leechiu Property Consultants shows that the BPO sector accounted for 37% of office space demand from January to May this year.
