14k provincial bus employees lose jobs amid pandemic

At least 14,000 employees of provincial bus firms have lost their jobs due to operational restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

PBOAP executive director Alex Yague warned that another 10,000 workers may be laid off because of cashless fare systems and ongoing travel restrictions.

Each bus supports three families: those of the driver, conductor, and support staff such as mechanics, dispatchers, inspectors, ticket sellers, and office personnel.
