Gilas Pilipinas wins first Asian Games gold in 61 years

The Gilas Pilipinas men's national team won gold at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games on October 6 with a 70-60 victory over Jordan, ending a 61-year drought.

Despite facing challenges such as a seven-hour delay upon return and limited preparation time due to roster changes and health issues affecting key players like Calvin Abueva and Jason Perkins, the team persevered under coach Tim Cone's guidance.

Justin Brownlee led Gilas with 20 points and thanked absent players for their moral support. NBA star Jordan Clarkson celebrated the historic win on social media.
