POC: Gilas' gold medal safe despite Brownlee's doping test

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham Tolentino assured Filipinos that Gilas Pilipinas' gold medal win in the Asian Games will not be stripped despite player Justin Brownlee testing positive for carboxy-THC.

Tolentino stated there's no way the country will lose the medal as per Olympic Council of Asia Anti-Doping Rule, which stipulates that medals are only revoked if more than two athletes from a team test positive.

Brownlee is currently provisionally suspended and has until October 19 to appeal by testing his B sample. If both samples are positive, he could face a potential two-year suspension affecting his participation in FIBA tournaments.
