Florita displaces thousands in Cagayan

Severe Tropical Storm Florita affected around 9,000 people in Cagayan province as of Wednesday.

The storm led to the evacuation of 3,000 families from 131 villages across 19 towns due to flooding and preemptive measures.

As of Tuesday, at least 589 families or 2,095 individuals were displaced in Cagayan’s 15 towns, staying in evacuation centers due to heavy rains and strong winds.

Florita caused flooding and damage to homes and crops, with around 50 villages experiencing waterlogging.

The storm left nine bridges and roads impassable, including the Santiago Bridge in Iguig town.

Cagayan authorities responded by clearing debris from major roads and advised residents to return home once floodwaters recede.
