Flights canceled, diverted due to weather

Due to inclement weather, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Wednesday, July 17, that several flights have been canceled or diverted.

Cebu Pacific and CebGo flights between Manila, Virac, Bicol, and Cebu are among those affected, with specific cancellations including CebPac flight 5J821 from Manila to Virac and CebGo flights DG6206 from Cebu to Bicol and DG6195 from Manila to Bicol.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) Express has also canceled flights between Manila and Bicol, as well as a flight from Manila to Davao that was diverted to Cebu.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts rain showers across most of the country due to a low pressure area east of Surigao del Norte and the southwest monsoon, with an LPA seen 40 kilometers east southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

This LPA is still expected to cross southern Luzon, enhancing the southwest monsoon on Thursday and Friday, which has already displaced over 90,000 families across 11 provinces and caused significant damage to crops and infrastructure.
