LPA near Samar, habagat bring heavy rains to parts of PH

A low pressure area (LPA) near Catbalogan City, Samar, and the southwest monsoon are causing rainfall in parts of the Philippines starting Thursday, July 18.

PAGASA warns that Mimaropa, Batangas, Aklan, and Antique could expect heavy to intense rain due to the LPA and habagat, while Metro Manila, Bataan, Calabarzon, Masbate, Western Visayas, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur could see moderate to heavy rains.

The LPA was last spotted over the waters off Catbalogan City early Thursday, increasing the likelihood of flash floods or landslides in these areas due to potential thunderstorms and localized weather conditions.

Light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas will be felt across most parts of the country, while isolated rain showers are expected elsewhere due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advises affected areas to stay on alert for floods and landslides, especially in regions that have experienced significant rainfall recently.
