Filipina tennis star Alex Eala reaches new career-high World No. 69

Filipina tennis star Alex Eala has reached a new career-high ranking, moving up to World No. 69 in the Women's Tennis Association rankings.

Eala improved her position by one spot from her previous rank of 70th after losing in the first round of the Italian Open to Marta Kostyuk.

Despite the loss, Eala showed success in doubles play at the Italian Open, reaching the quarterfinals with Coco Gauff before losing to eventual champions Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini.

Eala's rise comes ahead of her debut in the French Open main draw where she will enter as the 74th seed, marking significant progress since she finished 2024 ranked 148th in the world.

Coco Gauff is now the world No. 2 after reaching the finals in the singles draw at the Italian Open and losing to Jasmine Paolini.
