FEU Tamaraws rookie Veejay Pre scores career-high 31 points

FEU Tamaraws rookie Veejay Pre scored 31 points in Sunday's UAAP Season 87 men's basketball game against University of Santo Tomas, setting a career-high and becoming the first rookie to score over 30 points since Jeron Teng in 2012.

Inspired by teammate Kevin Quiambao’s performance from the previous day, Pre shot 11-of-17 from the field, including an efficient 5-of-7 from three-point range and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds despite his teammates Mo Konateh and Jorick Bautista battling food poisoning.

Pre expressed optimism and satisfaction with his performance, noting that it was crucial to step up given his teammates' health issues. He also mentioned being inspired by Quiambao’s career-high scoring the night before.

FEU head coach Sean Chambers praised Pre's capabilities and emphasized the need for him to exhibit more leadership on the court moving forward.

With four games left in the season, Pre remains optimistic about the team's chances for a Final Four spot as they continue to battle against stronger opponents.
