BIR extends tax filing deadlines to May 15

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) extended various tax deadlines due to the Luzon-wide lockdown.

The deadline for filing monthly value-added tax declarations and percentage taxes was moved from March 20 to April 20.

Electronic filing deadlines for BIR Forms were also pushed back, ranging from April 21 to April 27 depending on the filer's group.

BIR chief Caesar R. Dulay extended the income tax return deadline until May 15 and moved VAT refund application deadlines to April 30.

The extension will delay the collection of approximately P145 billion in taxes, crucial for funding social protection measures against COVID-19.
