Senate President Escudero urges Filipinos to honor heroes on Araw ng Kagitingan

Senate President Francis Escudero urged Filipinos to look back and honor the heroes who sacrificed their lives for freedom on Wednesday, April 9, as the nation marks Araw ng Kagitingan.

Araw ng Kagitingan commemorates the bravery of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II, particularly those who endured the Bataan Death March in 1942.

Escudero emphasized that freedom comes at a great cost and encouraged Filipinos to remember this lesson from history by showing courage and compassion today.

He called on citizens to unite and work towards achieving both small acts of kindness and significant national goals, continuing to be proud of their Filipino identity.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez also urged reflection not only on the Battle of Bataan but also on the silent sacrifices and human cost that came with it, emphasizing that courage often looks like ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
