DND, PVAO mark 'Araw ng Kagitingan', Philippine Veterans Week

The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) have announced commemoration activities for the 83rd 'Araw ng Kagitingan' and the 10-day Philippine Veterans Week, which began on Saturday, April 5.

Assistant Secretary Arsenio Andolong invited all Filipinos to participate in these events, which honor the bravery of Filipino troops during World War II.

The theme for this year's observance is 'Kabayanihan ng Beterano: Sandigan ng Kaunlaran ng Bagong Pilipinas,' highlighting veterans' contributions to nation-building.

Key events include a Sunrise Ceremony at Libingan ng mga Bayani on April 5, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and review of honor at Fort Bonifacio.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will lead the main commemoration on Mount Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan, on April 9, with limited capacity but live broadcast for public viewing.
