Police contingents return from Cebu after deployment

Police contingents from Iloilo (PRO-6) and Eastern Visayas (PRO-8) returned home on Friday after completing their deployment in Cebu to help enforce quarantine measures during the height of the COVID-19 crisis.

The PRO-6 contingent, led by Col. Ross Alvarado, welcomed back 42 out of the originally deployed 53 personnel; two tested positive for coronavirus and remain in Cebu with seven others for isolation.

In Eastern Visayas, Brig. Gen Bernabe Balda reported that 49 out of 52 personnel returned to their regional headquarters in Leyte on September 3, all testing negative for COVID-19 but undergoing mandatory quarantine at home.

Five PRO-8 members remain isolated in Cebu: one tested positive and four are close contacts of confirmed cases.
