Catbalogan places 22 villages under ECQ; Guiuan extends lockdown

Catbalogan City in Samar placed 22 villages under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on Saturday due to rising coronavirus cases.

The ECQ will be enforced until September 20 and covers areas with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases.

As of Thursday, Catbalogan had 306 active cases, 149 recoveries, and zero deaths.

Separately, Guiuan town in Eastern Samar extended its lockdown until September 4 to trace contacts of two confirmed coronavirus carriers.

The extension aims to curb the spread after a new case was recorded, bringing the total number of cases in Guiuan to four with two recoveries.
