Eala out of doubles, advances to singles R16

Alex Eala and her partner Katie Volynets were eliminated from the Oeiras Ladies Open doubles tournament after losing to Christina Rosca and Carmen Corley with a score of 3-6, 4-6 on Wednesday (Manila time) in Portugal.

Despite this setback, Eala continues to compete in the singles division where she is the top seed and will face Hungary's Panna Udvardy in the round of 16 on Thursday.

Eala advanced to this stage after defeating Anouk Koevermans of the Netherlands with a score of 6-3, 6-4 last Tuesday in a match that was affected by rain delays.

Rosca and Corley won more service points (32) compared to Eala and Volynets' 29, and also secured 23 receiving points versus their opponents' 20.

The fourth-seeded American duo ranked World No. 180 and 112 in doubles rankings respectively, while Eala is currently ranked 72nd by the WTA.
