Duterte won't fire Sinas over birthday bash

President Rodrigo Duterte will not fire or transfer National Capital Region Police Office Chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas despite the officer's birthday celebration that violated quarantine protocols.

Duterte, in a taped public address aired late Tuesday night, stated that Sinas is needed in his post because he believes Sinas to be a 'good and honest' officer.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified on Thursday that while Duterte has decided not to fire Sinas, criminal charges against him will proceed along with an administrative case.
