Duterte secures funds for COVID-19 vaccines, needs more for all Filipinos

President Rodrigo Duterte has secured funds to purchase coronavirus vaccines but needs more to ensure all 100+ million Filipinos can be vaccinated.

Duterte expressed confidence in Russian and Chinese vaccine candidates, stating soldiers and the poor will receive priority.

Malacañang announced state-owned banks and the proposed 2021 budget will fund vaccine purchases through Philippine International Trading Corporation.

At least three potential vaccines, including those from Russia and China, are set to undergo clinical trials in the Philippines.
