DOH targets 463K kids for measles-rubella vaccine in Soccsksargen

The DOH plans to vaccinate around 463,675 children aged nine to 59 months against measles and rubella in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) from October 26 to November 25.

Children who have not been vaccinated will receive their first dose while those previously vaccinated will get booster shots for added protection.

The DOH extended the vaccination campaign to a month-long period to avoid crowding and ensure adherence to health protocols during the pandemic.

Health authorities emphasized that measles is vaccine-preventable, and outbreaks could lead to severe complications and deaths.

Malacañang urged parents to allow their children to get vaccinated against measles despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

The DOH will also conduct a national anti-polio vaccination program starting October 26, covering Mindanao and other regions in Phase 1.
