Duterte offers P20-M reward for local respirator development

President Rodrigo Duterte offered a PHP20 million reward to any Filipino who can develop respirators for treating COVID-19 patients.

The offer comes amid a shortage of respirators in hospitals during the pandemic.

Duterte also previously promised a PHP50 million reward for anyone who can create a vaccine against COVID-19.

Last week, PHP45.717 billion was approved to fund DOH's COVID-19 response efforts, including the purchase of 1,500 mechanical ventilators.
