2021 Budget Prioritizes COVID-19 Response

The Duterte administration's proposed 2021 budget will prioritize the country's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the upcoming budget for July will be different, focusing entirely on COVID-19 efforts until a vaccine is available.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III noted that there was no need for an additional supplemental budget as Duterte already has authority under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act to realign funds.

Roque also mentioned the possibility of seeking a supplemental budget from Congress if more funding is needed.
