Duterte orders repatriation of 24K stranded OFWs within week

President Duterte ordered the DOLE, OWWA, and DOH to send home 24,000 stranded OFWs within a week.

As of Wednesday, about 7,500 OFWs have been transported back to their provinces via land, sea, and air.

DOLE formed task groups to expedite the movement of OFWs from quarantine facilities to their destinations.

About 4,000 OFWs flew home on mercy flights organized by OWWA at a cost of P1 million per flight.

On Monday, 124 stranded OFWs arrived in Zamboanga City and were transported to their respective provinces or placed under local health protocols.
