DOLE aids over 81K OFWs abroad with cash, medical support

As of Sunday, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has provided aid to over 81,000 Filipino workers abroad affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The assistance includes a one-time $200 cash grant under the AKAP program, food packs, face masks, and medicines through Philippine Overseas Labor Offices in 40 foreign posts.

In total, 66,271 OFWs from the Middle East, 9,403 from Europe and the Americas, and 3,637 from Asia and the Pacific have received food and medical relief.

Additionally, 2,077 Filipino workers who tested positive for COVID-19 received a $200 cash assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
