Duque backs stricter border controls after Indian COVID-19 variant found

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III recommended stricter border controls after two cases of the Indian COVID-19 variant were detected in returning Filipino workers from the Middle East.

Duque assured that strict border protocols prevented any transmission before detection and said he would seek WHO's advice on broadening travel bans to countries with reported cases of the India variant.
