DOH detects 10 more India COVID-19 variant cases

The Department of Health (DOH) detected ten additional cases of the B.1.617 SARS-CoV-2 variant from India, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Philippines to twelve.

One case is a seafarer who returned from Belgium via the United Arab Emirates and completed isolation on May 13.

The other nine cases are crew members of MV Athens Bridge; four remain hospitalized with stable conditions while five are in isolation facilities.

Sequencing results also identified thirteen B.1.1.7 (UK) variant cases, seven B.1.351 (South Africa) variant cases, and one P.3 variant case.
