DSWD ramps up production of 20,000 family food packs daily for disaster relief

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is working around the clock to produce family food packs (FFPs) in response to ongoing disaster relief efforts for Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, Super Typhoon Leon, and in anticipation of Severe Tropical Storm Marce.

DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao stated that personnel and volunteers are diligently producing FFPs day and night to ensure a continuous supply of aid amid ongoing operations.

The agency aims to produce 20,000 boxes of FFPs daily, with over 1.3 million boxes prepositioned in storage facilities across the country ready for immediate deployment.

In addition to truck deliveries, the Philippine Coast Guard is assisting by transporting relief supplies via sea travel from Pier 5 in Cebu City to affected regions, and DSWD has activated new production hubs in Central Luzon to expedite aid delivery.

Beneficiaries of DOLE's TUPAD program are contributing to the production of relief supplies at the National Resource Operations Center in Pasay City, while over 220,000 boxes have been dispatched from regional centers to support local government units (LGUs) in disaster response.

DSWD has so far extended more than 1.2 million FFPs and distributed over PHP21.6 million in cash aid under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and Ayuda Para sa Kapos Ang Kita Program (AKAP).
