PHP139M relief funds available for Typhoon Marce victims

Approximately PHP139 million worth of relief items and funds are available for distribution as Typhoon Marce (Yinxing) affects Region II, with 3,469 families pre-emptively evacuated since Wednesday.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional director Lucia Alan confirmed that the region has sufficient resources to address potential needs, including PHP58 million worth of family food packs and PHP78 million in non-food items such as sleeping kits, hygiene kits, and tents.

As of Friday, 13,031 family food packs, including 1,745 sacks of rice, are ready for dispatch to families affected by Typhoon Marce in Ilocos Norte.

On Friday, 331 families received aid from the provincial government at evacuation centers in Pasuquin, Bacarra, and Laoag City.

Typhoon damage is still being validated; no casualties have been reported as of press time, but at least one house was destroyed by a tornado in Pagudpud town.
