DSWD distributes PHP112.17M relief goods to Ilocos Region, prepares for Typhoon Marce

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided PHP54.27 million worth of family food packs and other non-food items to approximately 74,450 families in the Ilocos Region affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon as of Nov. 4.

In preparation for Typhoon Marce (international name Yinxing), DSWD has prepared an additional PHP57.9 million worth of relief items, including 28,797 family food packs worth PHP20.6 million and 14,944 non-food items worth PHP37.3 million.

Each family food pack includes six kilos of rice, four cans each of tuna and corned beef, two cans of sardines, five sachets of instant coffee, and cereal, while non-food items include hygiene kits.

Pangasinan received around 63,051 family food packs worth PHP44.91 million from the initial aid distribution, with additional supplies ready for further needs as identified by local government units.

The DSWD has stockpiled 18,124 family food packs and 2,639 non-food items in Ilocos Norte, 3,991 family food packs and 446 non-food items in Ilocos Sur, 2,818 family food packs and 11,053 non-food items in La Union, and 3,864 family food packs and 806 non-food items in Pangasinan.

A farmer from La Union, Artemio Eslavaa, expressed gratitude for the aid, noting it provides additional food for his family during successive weather disturbances.
