DOTr to expedite projects, prioritize privatization

DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon assured on Monday that existing transportation projects will continue and be expedited.

Dizon emphasized the importance of continuity and expediting these projects, citing major initiatives like the North-South Commuter Railway and Metro Manila Subway.

He highlighted the critical role of privatization and public-private partnerships (PPP) in improving the country's transportation system, as favored by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The DoTr will continue to prioritize the privatization and modernization of key transport projects, including the feasibility study for the EDSA Busway expected to be completed within months and awarded by 2026.

Finalizing terms of reference for MRT-3 operations and maintenance contracts is also underway, with programs like the Public Transport Modernization Program set to push through.

The modernization program aims to replace traditional jeepneys with units that have at least a Euro 4-compliant engine to cut pollution.
