DOT investigates hotel over alleged quarantine breach

The Department of Tourism is investigating a hotel in Metro Manila over reports that it allowed a guest from the US to skip quarantine protocols.

A viral social media post alleged that a returning Filipino left the hotel for a party before completing the required quarantine period.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said the DOT has served a Notice to Explain (NTE) to the establishment, requiring it to respond within three days.

The DOT is coordinating with authorities to verify the reports and violators may face criminal penalties including fines and imprisonment.
