DOT suspends Berjaya Hotel over quarantine breach

The Department of Tourism suspended Berjaya Makati Hotel's accreditation and revoked its permit as a multiple-use hotel after a traveler, Gwyneth Chua, skipped quarantine there on December 23.

Chua tested positive for COVID-19 four days later, leading to infections among party-goers and restaurant patrons and staff.

CIDG filed criminal charges against Chua, her parents, eight others involved in the breach, including hotel personnel, for violating RA 11332.

The PNP CIDG also plans to sue Chua's parents for quarantine breach.
