DOLE releases PHP9.8M aid to workers, seeks additional PHP3.5B

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released PHP9.84 million in financial assistance to 1,969 private sector workers affected by quarantine measures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Under DOLE's CAMP program, qualified workers receive a one-time PHP5,000 cash aid directly through money remittance services to comply with social distancing guidelines.

DOLE seeks an additional PHP3.5 billion from the social amelioration fund for affected formal sector workers and has already distributed PHP600 million to nearly 200,000 workers.

To speed up assistance distribution, DOLE is relaxing requirements such as payroll submission and processing establishment reports during Holy Week.

DOLE aims to distribute PHP1.5 billion in cash assistance this week to qualified beneficiaries affected by quarantine measures.
