Echanis killing raises questions on government probes

The killing of activist Randall 'Randy' Echanis has raised questions about the effectiveness of government investigations into politically-motivated killings.

Karapatan criticized the DOJ's special investigation unit, AO 35, for failing to bring perpetrators to justice.

Anakpawis, a peasant group chaired by Echanis, alleged that police raided his house before he was found dead.

DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra said they are still considering calls to remove the PNP from the special investigation as more facts emerge.
