DOJ orders probe, case build-up in 'slapped' student's death

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has directed Antipolo City prosecutors to coordinate with law enforcement agencies for the investigation and case build-up regarding the death of 14-year-old Francis Gumikib, who died after being allegedly slapped by his teacher.

The DOJ condemned any act of violence or abuse against children, emphasizing that child abuse is a violation of rights and should not be tolerated.

The department reminded teachers and educators of their responsibility to provide a safe environment for learners.
