Autopsy shows student died of natural causes, not teacher's slap

An autopsy report by the Philippine National Police determined that a 14-year-old student from Antipolo City died due to natural causes.

While acknowledging that the teacher's actions were wrong, Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo stated that the slapping incident was not the cause of death based on their findings.

The police will file a complaint against the teacher for violating Republic Act No. 7610, which carries a maximum penalty of eight years imprisonment, but lack evidence to support claims of physical injury or homicide.

Gumikib’s mother, Elena Minggoy, has raised doubts about the autopsy report and plans to seek a third-party opinion.

The Antipolo police are waiting for the family's approval before filing the child abuse complaint.
