Tarlac mayor charged with human trafficking

Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and thirteen others were charged with human trafficking by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).

The charges stem from raids conducted at an illegal POGO in Bamban where evidence linked Guo to labor trafficking, including documents showing her involvement with lessor companies.

Guo faces additional graft charges from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and administrative complaints for misconduct, while she has been preventively suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman.

Her camp insists that the DOJ is the proper forum to address these allegations and denies any connection between Guo and the Chinese national Guo Hua Ping.

Guo's legal team also argues that she is not a flight risk despite the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order being processed by the DOJ, and they will attend the next Senate hearing on June 26.
