Red Cross resumes COVID-19 testing after PhilHealth payment

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) resumed free COVID-19 testing services at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Tuesday night after receiving partial payment of P500 million from PhilHealth.

Testing will fully resume on Wednesday, and samples from hotels can now be transported to the airport for processing.

Malacañang denied that searching for alternative private laboratories was a threat to the PRC, stating it was necessary to find alternatives due to the unpaid debt.

The DOH is in talks with at least eight private labs with combined testing capacity equivalent to the PRC's to handle tests for returning Filipinos.
