OSS, OWWA deny forced use of expensive RT-PCR tests for OFWs

The One Stop Shop (OSS) and OWWA denied reports that returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were forced to use expensive private RT-PCR tests.

OWWA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac stated on Tuesday that the government is offering free COVID-19 testing for OFWs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Philippine Red Cross (PRC), chaired by Senator Richard Gordon, stopped processing COVID-19 tests due to PhilHealth's outstanding balance.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque assured that OWWA will cover all OFWs' RT-PCR test costs and these are subject to reimbursement by PhilHealth.

OWWA administrator Hans Leo Cacdac reiterated on Monday that swab testing for OFWs at airports is free, advising them not to patronize private laboratories offering paid tests.
