DOH Logs 1,712 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Recoveries Rise to Over 3.5 Million

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Sunday that there were 1,712 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the overall tally to 3,652,203.

Active cases stood at 60,532 with recoveries rising to 3,538,987 after recording 3,686 new recovered cases.

Of the active cases, 55,102 are mild, 2,848 moderate, 856 asymptomatic, 1,421 severe and 305 critical.

The majority of new cases (94 percent) occurred within the last two weeks from February 7 to 20, 2022.

The top regions with the most recent infections were National Capital Region (NCR), Calabarzon, and Western Visayas, accounting for 20%, 14% and 11% respectively of new cases.

There were also 77 new deaths reported, bringing the total death toll to 55,684. Of these, 66 percent occurred in February 2022, 26 percent in January 2022, with a small number in October and September due to late encoding of data.

About 8.8% of the 28,500 who were tested on February 18 turned out positive for coronavirus.
