Philippines reports 6,835 new COVID-19 cases; active infections at 116K

The Philippines reported 6,835 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, marking the seventh consecutive day below 10,000 infections.

The total case count reached 3.6 million, while recoveries increased by 16,330 to 3.45 million and deaths rose by 12 to 54,538.

As of February 7, there were 116,720 active cases with positivity rate at 19.1%, above the WHO threshold of 5%.

The majority (98%) of new cases occurred between January 25 and February 7, with Metro Manila leading in infections followed by Western Visayas and Central Visayas.
