DOH to announce date for referral hospitals to accept COVID-19 patients

The Department of Health (DOH) is preparing to announce this week the date when referral hospitals in Metro Manila will start accepting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that three designated hospitals – UP-PGH, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, and Lung Center of the Philippines – are transitioning to exclusively handle COVID-19 cases.

The DOH aims to have 140 beds at UP-PGH, 120 beds at Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, and 40 beds at the Lung Center ready by end of next week.

Only stable patients from these hospitals will be transferred to other facilities.
