DOH deploys teams as over 100 suffer acute gastroenteritis in Odette-hit areas

Over a hundred residents in Dinagat Islands and other areas affected by Typhoon Odette have experienced acute gastroenteritis.

Three deaths due to dehydration were reported in Cagdianao town of Dinagat Islands.

The DOH has deployed epidemiology teams and sent water purification systems to identify sources and provide appropriate medications.

80 cases of acute gastroenteritis were recorded in Dinagat Islands, 54 diarrhea cases in Siargao, and 16 diarrhea cases in Cebu.

Local officials are considering declaring an outbreak due to limited water supplies.

The DOH is investigating the cause of the illnesses following water service interruptions.
