DOH reports five new recoveries in Samar town

Five new coronavirus recoveries were reported in Tarangnan town, Samar province, bringing the total number of recovered patients in Eastern Visayas to 30.

Tarangnan remains the hardest-hit town in Eastern Visayas with 29 cases since the pandemic began; it now has four active cases and no deaths.

The DOH regional office assured there is no cause for panic as all 48 confirmed cases in Eastern Visayas are mild, with patients either asymptomatic or showing only mild symptoms.

Tacloban City recorded its first coronavirus case on June 1st, a 29-year-old female cruise ship worker who arrived via Air Asia flight.

Biliran province also reported its first case, a 19-year-old male student who had traveled from Baguio to Metro Manila and then to Tacloban before returning home.
