DOH: Delta variant death toll climbs to three

The Department of Health reported on Monday that the number of deaths caused by the Delta coronavirus variant in the Philippines has risen to three.

A 78-year-old woman from Baybay, Antique province, who was initially tagged as recovered but later confirmed dead after validation, is one of the fatalities.

This death, along with a previous case involving a crew member of a foreign vessel and another 58-year-old female resident of Manila, brings the total to three deaths out of 35 Delta variant cases in the country.

Of these 35 cases, including 11 locally acquired ones, 32 have recovered.

The DOH also clarified that while a case was detected in Taguig, it is not considered a local infection.
